Federica Pozzi is Director of the Scientific Laboratories at the Centro per la Conservazione ed il Restauro dei Beni Culturali “La Venaria Reale”, Turin, Italy. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 2012 from the University of Milan, Italy, working for a year at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Prior to her current appointment, Federica held positions at various museums and academic institutions in the United States, including the City College of the City University of New York (2012), The Art Institute of Chicago (2012-2014), the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (2014-2016), and The Met (2016-2021). While having performed extensive research with Raman and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for the identification of pigments and dyes in objects of archaeological, historical, and artistic significance, Federica has gained a broad experience with numerous analytical techniques and cultural heritage materials. Between 2019 and 2022, she was awarded with a Professional Membership of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) and with a Fellowship of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC) in recognition of her professional achievements and contributions to the conservation science profession. Federica has co-authored more than 50 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and has presented the outcomes of her research activity at over 70 national and international conferences.
In the Carracci ConservArt project, Federica belongs to the research group dedicated to Mural Paintings.
